A 20 ft., 16 handle parachute was purchased from the Irene Huff Memorial Money left to Vacation Bible School. We purchased something that could benefit VBS for many, many years to come. With this we will, well remember Irene. Thank you-VBS Committee.

Church Fair March 11

The stewardship board is planning a “Church Fair” in the basement after the 9:30 AM service on Sunday, March 11. Refreshments will be served so please stop down and see what it is all about. This fair will be much like a “Science Fair” which we feel most of you probably know about. There will be tables set up by all the church boards with information and handouts to help you understand what each board does. There will be sheets to indicate if you are interested in helping on any of the boards. This will be a good chance for our congregation members to see and understand what these boards do during the course of the year. Please try to attend on March 11 after the 9:30 AM service.

Elevator/Roof Repair Fund Challenge

The Evening Guild is challenging the members of St. John to contribute toward the Elevator/Roof Repair Fund. The Guild will match $1.00 for every $2.00 contributed to the Elevator/Roof Repair Fund by congregation members up to $1,500.00. The challenge will match funds received from Feb. 1—April 8 (Easter Sunday). Contributions should be placed in the specially marked envelopes that are available from the table in the narthex.

Thank You

Thank you to all the youth who participated in singing the song “ONE” on Ash Wednesday evening. Good Job.

Campbell Soup Labels

We will continue to save these for Camp Luther but please note the change in what to save. Proofs are no longer the front label but are now the Universal Product Code.

Thank You

A huge thank you to all who helped make our Annual Spaghetti Supper a success! Special thanks to the Weekday School students who again did an outstanding job decorating placemats, making table favors and heart decorations for the ceiling. To our youth, we truly appreciate your help in serving desserts, waiting on tables, bussing tables, working in the kitchen and any other way you helped. You are an important part of making this event a success. A heartfelt thank you also to our “auxiliary” members who help with setting up tables and chairs, setting and decorating tables, washing dishes, helping in the kitchen and many other “jobs” that need to be done. We couldn’t do it without you. Thanks to Lisa Ross for again coming to cook for us! Thank you to Taylor, Vollert & Jennings Funeral Home, Ritchay Funeral Home and Higgins Funeral Home for their continued support for print media advertisement and Rapids Tigermart and Country Tots for their Marquee sponsorship. Members of St. John and the people of our community are also thanked for coming to dine with us. The Evening Guild enjoyed making this a special Valentine event. The profits from this project will be used to benefit the Church and its missions. Thank you again from the Ladies Evening Guild.

Thank You

The following youth worked very hard at the Wakely Winterfest on Saturday, February 17 and earned $75.00 from the Historic Point Basse, Inc. A matching fund donor of $75.00 then brought this total to $150.00. These youth did their best to serve beverages and dessert to 200 guests that attended the event. Thanks again for doing it with St. John pride and for not running the other way when you saw how many people had to be served. We are proud you didn’t give up! Thank you, Ariel Anderson, Tyler Hansen, and Ethan Sweeney.

Additional Summer Services

The Board of Elders approved four additional services this summer during its regular February meeting. In addition to our regular worship schedule of Saturdays at 6:30 PM and Sundays at 9:30 AM, Pastor Ader will be conducting four Thursday evening services: May 24 (Thursday before Memorial Day), June 28 (Thursday before July 4 th), July 19 (Thursday of water ski weekend at Lake Wazeecha), and August 30 (Thursday before Labor Day). These additional services will most likely be held in the sanctuary and will be more of a blended service with both traditional and contemporary hymns. It is our hope that these additional services will be of benefit to our members who may be traveling out of town during these summer holiday weekends.

Upscale Resale Clearance Sale

Bethesda's Upscale Resale Store in the Rapids Mall will have its final seasonal clearance sale the first part of March. Beginning February 26 and going through March 9, Upscale Resale will offer a BAG SALE for all clothing, shoes and boots. It's a great time to get a great deal on a lot of neat clothing available at the store and at the same time supporting the folks at Bethesda Lutheran Home. Beginning March 12, the store will be filled with "tons" of spring and summer clothing! Our donations for January and February were way down. Please bring in your donations of clothing, kitchen items, knickknacks, jewelry, athletic supplies, books, video and audio items etc.We also are in need of more volunteers. Stop by the store or call 421-3477. Thank you.
