Congregational Meeting

A special congregational meeting has been called for Sunday, September 10, following the 9:30 AM service. Items to be discussed include the parsonage roof repairs and elevator repairs.

Pictorial Directory Photos will be taken on September 7. If you have not yet had your photograph taken please contact, Carol Eckels, Nancy Saeger, or Sharon Nieman to set up an appointment time.

Bible

Adult Bible Study

Pastor Ader will continue to lead us through the remainder of the Old Testament books of Job-Malachi. Our study will begin on Sept. 10 at 8:00 AM. Reading materials are available on the Narthex table.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

The Tuesday morning ladies Bible Study will meet on September 12 at 9:15 AM at the home of Marg Bratcher. The study itself will begin the following week (8 week session) and will be the conclusion of the “New Life in Christ” study. For more information call Marg

Tuesday Evening Bible Study

Have you ever had any questions about angels? If so, please join us for a Bible study titled “The Story of Angels.” This ten lesson study clearly lays out what God says about angels, and displays the purpose of angels relating to God’s plan. The study will begin October 10 at 7:00 PM, at the home of Doug and Karen Ross. If you have any questions about the study, please pick up a flyer describing the study in the narthex or call Doug.

Custodian Position

The inside custodian position has been filled by Ron and Marcy Doescher.

Rally Sunday

Rally Sunday is September 17 at the 9:30 AM service. All children nursery-8 th grade will share songs with the congregation. Teachers will be commissioned.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

All you ladies of the congregation between the ages of 20 and 100. Are you ready for a couple of hours of good fellowship, devotions, topics and good desserts?? Then Listen up! Come join the St. John Ladies Aid. The meetings are the 1 st Thursday of the month. We would like you to come visit us! Next meeting is September 7 at 1:30 PM in the church basement. Pastor Ader plans to show a video about the Orphan Grain Train and how some of our donations, quilts, etc. are used in the world. Any questions call Mona Heindl at 423-3962.

Clearance Sale

The Upscale Resale Store in the Rapids Mall is having its final summer Clearance Bag Sale through September 9. You can’t get a better bargain anywhere else so come and shop at the Upscale Resale Store and at the same time support the folks at Bethesda Lutheran Home. Fall and winter items will be in the store on September 11.

Help Needed At The Upscale Resale Store

We are still looking for a group of 3-4 ladies who could volunteer to work once a month for 3-4 hours to sort and price items-cashiers are also needed. Please call 421-3477 ASAP.

LWML Fall Rally

The Ladies of Trinity in Port Edwards invite you to the Fall Rally for Zone 17 on Thursday, September 21 with registration beginning at 4:30 PM. Cost will be $4.00. The Christian Growth topic is “How High Can You Count.” The Evening Program speaker will be Karol Selle from Rosholt, WI and her topic will be “Joy In This Journey.” “Gifts of the Heart” ingathering will be for Peace Lutheran Campus Ministry at St. Point. Items needed include: herbal tea, hot chocolate, apple cider, napkins, 13 gal. plastic bags, granola bars, Bic ball point pens, envelopes, and stamps. Remember to bring your stamps for missions.

Church Library

The church library will be having its annual book sale during the fall bazaar. As you begin your fall cleaning please consider donating books, tapes, CD’s, hand held video games and videos for the sale. Bring your items in a bag marked “Book Sale” and place them in the library area. Your donations are greatly appreciated. The money from this sale allows us to make new purchases for the library.

Lutheran Service Book

A copy of the new Lutheran Service Book which our Synod is publishing is available in the narthex for members to look at. If you would like to take it home you may sign it out for the week and return it so that others may also review it.

Grief Support Series

This fall, Ministry Home Care Hospice Services will facilitate two separate 6-week grief support series in the area. “The Journey of Life-Understanding Grief” will be held on Monday evenings in Wis. Rapids, and Wednesday evenings in Marshfield. There are no fees for this program but registration is required. Sessions will begin the week of Sept. 11. Interested persons should call 800/397-4216 or 715/387-7052 or 715/423-5591 for more information or to register.

Adult Gathering

The 2006 Adult Gathering sponsored by the Adult Ministry Committee of the North Wisconsin District-LCMS will be held on November 2 at the Plaza Hotel & Conference Center in Wausau from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM. Cost will be $22 and registration deadline is October 20. The program includes a Bible Study lead by Rev. Ray Connor, Keynote Speaker Rev. Rich Bimler, and Entertainment by Dawn Schalow, with lunch, sing-a-long, and breaks in between. More information and registration forms are available in the Narthex.

Trip to Greece

A trip to Greece “The Footsteps of Paul” sponsored by the Adult Committee of the North Wisconsin District-LCMS is planned for October 1-14, 2007. Cost is $3,849.00 per person and includes air from Minneapolis. Travel hosts will be Pastor Dennis & Grace Pegorsch. Brochures with Itinerary and further details are available in the narthex.
