July 2005 Newsletter

The Call Committee met on June 21, 2005. We discussed Pastor Wipperman's decline of our call. We are planning to conduct face-to-face interviews with the remaining candidates. When the interviews are completed, we will call another congregational meeting. Please continue to include our Church, the Pastors and the Call Committee in your prayers as we continue with the call process. Thank you.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thank you for the honor and privilege of considering the call to be your pastor. St. John congregation has a rich history of faithful service to the Lord and His Kingdom. I have known many fine Christians who came from your midst.

Over the past days I have prayed that God would lead me to understand His Will with regard to your call. As I have read your documents and discussed your ministry with friends, I have been impressed with your dedication to being the light of the world as you say in your mission statement.

Nevertheless, the result of my deliberations is that I do not believe it is God’s will for me to accept the call to be your pastor. Therefore I am returning the call with the assurance of my prayers on your behalf and my gratitude for the opportunity to consider the possibility of serving the Lord at St. John.

May the Lord of the Church lead you to find the man He would have serve as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church.

Yours in Christ,

Stephen K. Wipperman

On Sunday, July 17 we will celebrate our Reflection Sunday with a special service at 9:30 AM. We will be honoring all of our members who have reached the age of 80 years or more. Following the service a brunch will be served in the church basement.

Come and be a part of this celebration for these members who have given so much of their time and talents to the Lord’s work over the past years. Everyone is invited! Bring a dish to pass and stay for the brunch.

If anyone has turned 80 and is not on this list, please call the church office as soon as possible. Here are the names that we have:
